Our 300 year-old thatched Aran fisherman's cottage and adjacent studio have both had a low carbon makeovers. They not only enjoy a stunning elevation over Galway Bay, with Inis Mor and Connemara in the distance, but it are bang up to date and comfortable inside. The studio has a living green roof of Sea Pinks and the cottage, above is thatched with rye. Both have underfloor heating and like all the island, electricity is provided by environmentally friendly windpower.

Travel by ferry (40 mins) or Islander plane (8 mins). Underfloor heating- via the islands three windmills - keeps this cottage with metre thick wals comfortable . There is also a solid fuel stove to heat the entire cottage.
