FOOTBALL was the proposed  solution to an unholy row which threatened the peaceful life on the Aran Islands. Unfortunately for Father Ted enthusiasts  trouble brewed up again after the staging of Tedfest '09. The event was another superb success on Inis Mór but islanders on Inis Oírr feel cheated. Getting there
Island Ferries departs from Rossaveal, a village about 45 minutes drive west of Galway City twice a day in summer and winter (9.30 and 18.30). Adult return fare is 25 euros. Moher ferries and O' Brien ferries leave from Dooling in Co Clare, twice a day....but check

Island Patrún Festivals

Following a centuries old tradition of Patern Days, Each of the Aran Islands celebrates its individual Patron Saint in a weekend of currach races, swimming, music and dancing on the pier.
